About
Attention
In a world that demands your child's attention through entertainment and technology, Reel Kids is designed to enter your child's attention space to not only share how to create a film reel, but to share what is truly real: God's truth.
Frugal
Filmmaking doesn't have to be expensive. Using resources already found in the home, we learn to make do with what we have. Mobile phones make for great cameras! Most laptops already have editing software included. We'll make a fully functional TelePrompter out of a $20 picture frame. Let's grab Dad's shop lights to light the set. We'll use Mom's wax paper as diffusers. And we'll clamp them on with clothes pins, otherwise known as
C-47s in Hollywood.
God's Economy
We also learn to never allow a lack of money to prevent you from pursuing your goals. In the world we live in, money is a finite resource. That is not the case with God however. As we have seen in Reel Kids, when many pitch in, great things happen!
Internalize
The wonderful thing about combining filmmaking with biblical truths is that your child must internalize what he or she learns before being able to create films. When hearing stories from the Bible, the words can pass by so quickly. But when exploring what characters felt, then the stories really begin to come to life.
Outside the Box
Filmmaking is all about creativity, imagination, and exploring what's possible, so your child will be challenged to view things through different lenses.

This develops critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and a stronger faith and reliance on God.
Skill Development
In addition to film technique and trying their hand at operating technical equipment, your child will learn many skills:

-
Collaboration
-
Leadership
-
Problem-solving
-
Large project management
-
Creative writing
-
Critical thinking
-
Speaking
-
Organization

Roles
The Body of Christ comes alive even in children as they migrate to various film crew roles in Reel Kids. Beyond acting, they can try their hand at roles requiring different sets of skills such as:

-
Director
-
Assistant Director
-
Camera Operator
-
Audio Engineer
-
Boom Operator
-
Script Supervisor
Discipleship
The message your child hears from the world is what they should be doing: be a better student, be a better Christian, be a better church member.
In Reel Kids, these external pressures are removed so your child can focus solely on his or her relationship with Christ. Thrilling discoveries are made that bring an excitement and understanding of what freedom in Christ means.

Learning to do special effects was really cool. I also liked doing animation. My favorite film crew role is boom operator.

When Calls the Heart
Filmmaking always begins with a great story, and at the center of Reel Kids is the greatest story ever told. We need more young filmmakers with fresh voices to help tell that story!
